Overview
With this 17 days All Round Uganda Safari, you will explore different tourist sites in Uganda. From the East to the West, North to the South, this trip package is special as it encompasses myriad of experiences including gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking, game drives white water rafting, and nature walking excursions.
There are many destinations to be visited during this single Uganda safari. They include among others Jinja, Sipi, Kidepo Valley National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, Kibale National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Lake Bunyonyi, and Lake Mburo National Park. Your vacation starts and ends in Kampala capital city of Uganda.
This day will be used for you to fly up to Entebbe International Airport (EBB), and you will be picked up by Uganda driver. Entebbe airport is set nearby the scenic shores of Lake Victoria. Drive for about 1 hour to Kampala capital city through the Old Entebbe road and you will check in at the hotel for relaxation, dinner and retire for the night.
A hefty breakfast will be followed by check out of the hotel in Kampala and you begin your trip to Jinja via Mukono town-Mabira Forest. The en-route trip includes a stop tour at the Ssezibwa waterfalls. This waterfall is about 32km off from the heart of Kampala and you will branch off from Mukono to explore.
Access to the Ssezibwa falls involves guided hiking and you will witness the natural beauty it comes with, learn of its unique history and cultural significance attached to it. From Ssezibwa, continue to Jinja for via Mabira Forest and enjoy the evening sunset boat cruise.
Have a delicious breakfast and join other adventure enthusiasts for briefing about the white water rafting. Today’s white water rafting involves conquering the Grade 4 and Grade 5. From the whitewater rafting experience, return and check out of the lodge facility. Start your road trip to the eastern side of Uganda to explore Sipi falls. Drive along the Jinja-Tirinyi-Mbale route, with en route lunch to be enjoyed.
Wake up early morning and you will have a trek to the Sipi Falls -85m, 75m and 100m. Enjoy 2-3 hours’ trek to the triple Sipi falls, enjoy the most irresistible beauty and take photos, explore more on the formation and in addition, have uninterrupted view of the Karamojong plains.
Return and relax at the lodge till afternoon when you will engage in the coffee tour. The Bugisu Arabic coffee is planted at the elevation range of 1600 to 1900m and the entire experience involves exploring in depth the actual coffee growing stages from cultivation to processing to final product.
It will be today when you depart Sipi Falls to Kidepo Valley National Park across the sweeping Karamoja plains. You will be offered lunch enroute and continue with a scenic drive witnessing the unspoilt naturalness of Karamoja sub-region.
A leisurely breakfast and you will set off for the morning game drive in 4WD with pop-up roof/sunscreen roof. Lots of early risers, predators and other mammals survive in this park and today’s sightings including leopards, cheetahs, lions, spotted hyenas, cape buffaloes, zebras, oribis, elands, giraffes, elephants, bush pigs, Jackson’s hartebeest and more. The park also rewards visitors with exceptional bird sighting where you identify birds like ostriches.
Return to your lodge for relaxation, lunch and in the afternoon, embark on a guided cultural tour in the Karamojong community. Dig deep into Karamojong ancient cultures and traditions; enjoy the great dances and music performances.
You will be picked up by your driver ready to connect to Murchison Falls NP, about 7-8 hours’ drive. Get incredible treat of the countryside semi-arid and vast Karamoja plains.
You will have lunch meal enroute and continue to Murchison Falls National Park in Nwoya, Buliisa, Masindi, and Kiryandongo districts. A long afternoon will be spent at the lodge relaxing, dining and retire for a night awaiting the next day’s experiences.
First, early in the morning, you will be offered breakfast at the lodge and leave by 6:00am for your guided game drive. The game drive session will be done via the Northern circuit and possible sightings include elephants, African buffaloes, warthogs, Jackson’s hartebeest, oribis, bushbucks, waterbucks, leopards, lions and many birds.
The morning game drive will run for 2-3 hours and you will get back to chill at the lodge, enjoy lunch and proceed with an afternoon boat cruise towards the base of the falls. During the boat cruise excursion on Victoria Nile, you will be spotting lots of hippos, crocodiles, and water birds. The aquatic sightings will be accompanied by scenic view of riverine vegetation and mesmerizing view of the waterfalls at its base.
After a tasty cup of tea/coffee, you will drive to the top of the falls for photography and observing it while it forces itself into a narrow rock measuring 7-8m. From the top of the falls, set off to Kibale National Park, driving via Albertine rift valley escarpment, Hoima city to Fort Portal city.
Lunch break will be made upon arrival in Fort Portal tourism city and later continue to the lodge with spectacular view of the Crater Lakes and the Rwenzori Mountain ranges.
This day is set for you to search for chimpanzees in the wild. First, you will gather at Kanyanchu Tourism Centre for briefing about guidelines for chimpanzee trekking and for the park official to allocate the park guides to lead you. One park guide will have a group of 6pax to lead and actual trek begins at 8:00am, taking 2-4 hours. This covers a maximum of one hour for up close and personal with chimpanzee community in the wild.
Maximize the one hour for photo taking and observe the different body gestures displayed by chimpanzees. Other primates will be spotted including the red-tailed monkeys, colobus monkeys, mangabeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboons, and birds.
In the afternoon, you will be visiting Bigodi wetland and spend at least 2 hours or more. A huge concentration of primates will be encountered including blue monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, red colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, and birds like Great blue turacos, blue kingfishers, blue throated rollers and others.
Start the day with early breakfast and check out, set off to Queen Elizabeth NP 2-3 hours. You will be navigating via the Crater Lake area and in the surrounding; there are extensive banana plantations and scenic undulating hills. When you reach the park, you will be sighting some freely roaming wildlife while you connect to the lodge for relaxation.
In the afternoon, you will spend 2 hours exploring Kazinga channel and its wonders. During the launch cruise with an experienced guide, you will be sighting hippos, crocodiles and water birds.
After a heavy breakfast, you will embark on wildlife expedition through the extensive Kasenyi plains. This will run for 2-3 hours and comes with clear sightings of African bush elephants, waterbucks, cape buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, leopards, lions, warthogs and birds. After the game drive, you will return and have a delicious lunch break at the lodge then later continue to Bwindi via Ishasha sector where tree climbing lions will be spotted.
Early in the morning, you will enjoy a hefty breakfast and report to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park offices to get briefed about gorilla trekking safety measures. Before you embark on actual gorilla trekking, gorilla families will be allocated and start your long day search at 8:00am with an experienced park guide.
The whole primate expedition will run for 2-6 hours which includes one hour for photography and observing the daily behaviors of gorillas in the wild. The park guide will be present to interpret some of the body gestures to you. Late in the afternoon, you will have great time with the Batwa pygmies; get entertained by the cultural dances and music performances. The Batwa lived in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest as hunters and gatherers. They were evicted when the park was officially gazetted as a park in 1991.
Enjoy a hefty breakfast and after, you will connect to Lake Bunyonyi. Set off on a scenic drive to Lake Bunyonyi, a freshwater Lake with 29 islands. At Lake Bunyonyi, you embark on a speed boat ride or canoe ride heading to one of the islands. In the surrounding, you will be viewing the beautiful terraced areas and watch locals as they carry on with their daily activities.
A hefty breakfast will be had in the morning, and after, explore the Bakiga cultural museum. After, you will be transferred to Lake Mburo National Park by car. This park is one of the smallest parks in Uganda and also the most accessible of all parks from the heart of Kampala city.
In the afternoon, you will be exploring different aquatic species on Lake Mburo while on a boat cruise. Look out for hippos, crocodiles, and water birds.
Following a cup of tea/coffee, set off for a memorable guided nature walking expedition for 2 hours. The park guide will lead you through the different habitats while exploring various wildlife and birds. Return to chill at the lodge, till 4pm when you will board a 4×4 safari vehicle and begin searching for your favorite wild animals in the wilderness of Lake Mburo National Park. The evening game drive allows you see wildlife such as spotted hyenas, buffaloes, warthogs, topis, elands, waterbucks, bushbucks, leopards, reedbucks, giraffes and others.
You will begin your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe, 4-5 hours’ drive and en route, you will make a stopover at the Equator crossing.
